I’m a parent educator, author of Tears Heal:How to listen to our children, mum to a teenage daughter, and a part-time nanny and babysitter.
I have been looking after children since I was a child myself. When I was in primary school I went to a childminder after school, and I loved looking after the babies, playing with them, carrying them home from school, pushing them on the swings in the park.
When I was 14 years old my next door neighbour knocked on my door and asked if I would babysit her son, and that was the beginning of my childcare career!
I’ve always loved children, but I also loved writing from an early age too. After a degree in Philosophy and English I studied for a masters degree in creative writing, and began a career writing articles for various different freelance publications.
I caught the travel bug, and moved from Scotland to Vietnam with my husband. While he worked as a teacher I wrote, and tutored children from international schools until we moved to Switzerland, and I began babysitting again around my writing work.
When my daughter was born I became fascinated with children’s emotions, so I took a parent education instructor training with Hand in Hand Parenting.
I continued to write, teach parents about gentle parenting, and babysit on the side! I also began writing a parenting book Tears Heal: How to listen to our children which was published in 2016.
My family moved to Italy in 2016, where I continued to write and teach. Then one day I discovered Tripsitta; a childcare agency for parents travelling or on holiday. From 2025-2026 I worked in a wide variety of different temporary roles. While working for Tripsitta I took courses in first aid, safe guarding, and I also trained in maternity nursing.
Working for Tripssita I noticed that children would often be excited to play with a new nanny, but also a little nervous at first of a stranger. This planted the seed of the idea for The Attachment Nanny; offering gentle childcare based on an understanding about how connection, warmth, play and laughter can help children feel confident and at ease.
In 2026 my family decided to return back to the UK to live permanently. We are now settled in Northumberland where I offer regular babysitting and part-time nanny work as well as parenting education courses and workshops, and professional development courses for nannies.
